South Berwick
Emergency Rescue is the non-profit agency that provides Emergency
Medical Service to the towns of South Berwick and Rollinsford. We are in
need of volunteers to go through the required training to become a
licensed EMT in Maine and New Hampshire. Prior medical experience is
not necessary. Of course we are always welcoming those of you that
are already medically trained.
There are
numerous Basic Emergency Medical Technician courses in the area that
will enable you to join our team in providing this needed and valuable
service to our neighbors.
The Basic EMT
course consists of 140 classroom hours. A course normally runs two
evenings a week for twelve weeks followed by a state exam which will
enable you to become licensed.
Members of our
squad do make a commitment to the community and us. Members of our squad
volunteer to be “on call” at least two shifts per month. You would
be provided all necessary equipment and continuing education necessary
to perform the functions of an EMT – at no cost to you.
Local residents
that may be interested in joining us in this exciting/rewarding field
will be reimbursed for all training costs upon becoming an active member
of the rescue squad.
Many of the
members of our team have advanced on to obtaining the levels of advanced
life support technicians and some have reached the level of Paramedic.
This is an excellent way to obtain the required training and experience
needed to get into a new career field or as a method to be able to
assist in providing a needed service to your community and family.
Although we do not offer financial compensation for your service, the
rewards of working on a team to help others in a time of crisis is
invaluable and provides you with many rewards.
Come visit the squad, find out more about South
Berwick Rescue, talk to our EMT’s and learn more about EMS.
We look forward to
hearing from you. |
