Safety Tips

Safety is important to keep you and your family from being injured or killed.  Many people are injured while at home.   These injuries range from small cuts to life-threatening injuries.  Many of these can be prevented.  Here are some ideas:

  • Remember to "Pull to the Right and STOP" whenever you see emergency lights.  This will help us help you.
  • Teach your children how and when to use the 9-1-1 system.
  • Make sure your residence is clearly marked so emergency personnel can find it easily .
  • Keep a written medical history on hand for each member of your family. It should list allergies, medications, and past medical problems. Have it readily available to give to emergency medical personnel.
  • Get everyone in your family to take a CPR course. Call us to find out when the next one will be held.
  • Try to prevent an emergency. Check the operation of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors regularly.
  • Have a fire extinguisher where you can get to it if needed.
  • Keep toxic substances out of the reach of toddlers.
  • Look around for any dangerous situations in your home, and fix them.
  • Inspect your house and yard for hazards and fix them as soon as possible.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning and look for them, especially in the winter.
  • Be prepared for disasters by putting together a Disaster Supply Kit.
  • Open the top section of windows, especially on upper floors, if you have small children around the house.
