Depending on what illness/injury you are
experiencing, you will be placed on oxygen, a cardiac monitor, and your vital signs will
be taken. You will be placed on a stretcher (or other device to get you to the stretcher)
and moved to the ambulance. During transport many of the same questions will be asked
again to determine if the treatment is helping your situation.
The crew will contact the hospital that you are
going to advise them of what is going on and what care has been started. Dont worry,
your name will not be transmitted over the air. The hospital may suggest and/or approve
any additional actions/treatments for the EMS crew to perform during the transport.
Upon arrival at the hospital you will be moved to a
stretcher in the emergency department where the hospital staff will take a report from the
EMS crew and assume care for you.
